I know this picture has been out there for a while, but it is new to me I hope it is not too late to put my two cents worth in. I really like the series of polar opposites in the view:
The shadowy heaviness on the porch up to the swing vs. the bright (annoying bright as a blue person might say) joyous day that begins just past the swing,
The vertical lines of the floor vs. the horizontal lines of the swing,
The size differences of the two subjects, and
The absolute, pungeunt (sp?), genuine depression of the subject on the left vs. the mockery of the sheep.
That last one probably needs a little explanation (or maybe not. Who am i to judge?) The doll, in its cuddly cuteness, almost looks absurd in its sadness. Its expression, though, is hauntingly close to the exact expression of the left hand , Making it look as if it may be, during normal times, be a happy go lucky type of sheep. But, since its pal is sad, it must share the burden.
Sorry for the ramble. Again, I very much enjoyed the shot and look forward to seeing more of your work.
reminds me when i cut
so heavy and emotional brings a tear to my eye.
